Oct 2016 RES Exam Results Released on 03 Nov 2016
Candidates who have passed both papers in Oct 2016, may collect their certificates at our Bras Basah branch from 09 Nov 2016, 1pm onwards.
Under the new regulatory regime administered by the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA), one of the registration criteria for property agents (or individual salespersons) is that they must pass the CEA’s Real Estate Salesperson (RES) examination or have equivalent qualification. This is to ensure that agents intending to do estate agency work are well qualified, professionally competent and be able to work effectively in the real estate industry. They must also be able to uphold good ethical standards at all times.

For New Industry Entrants
All pre-requisites documents (original RES course completion certificate, original highest qualification certificate, CEA qualification assessment approval email notification (applicable for overseas qualification only) and identification documents like NRIC &/or passport) and
RES is the new and only industry entry qualifying exams for Real Estate Salespersons.
With effect from May 2013, the RES Exam format will include a new Case Study Section in both Paper 1 and 2 in the form of Multiple Choice Questions. Both Paper 1 and 2 will adopt the same format as follow:
2 Papers each (2.5 hours per paper)
Paper 1:Section A: 50MCQs (50 marks), Section B: 15MCQs with reference 1 or 2 case studies (30 marks), Section C: 10 Fill-in-the-blank short answer questions (20 marks).
Paper 2: Same format as Paper 1.
With effect from the July 2011 RES examination, modular passing will be allowed. Candidates who have passed either Paper 1 or Paper 2 need to retake only their failed Paper from the August 2011 RES examination onwards. Upon passing the remaining Paper, the candidate will be considered as having passed the RES examination and will be subsequently issued an RES Exam Certificate. The candidate must submit the salesperson registration application through and with support of a licensed estate agent within 2 years of the date of issue of the final results. Otherwise, the results will be invalid for registration purposes.
Candidates who fail both Papers will need to retake the RES exam as a fresh candidate; i.e. need to take Paper 1 and 2 in a single sitting in their next attempt. Modular passing will apply only if the candidate has passed one Paper. There shall be no retrospective consideration of results from earlier RES examinations taken from Jan to Jun 2011.
Important Note: Please be informed that all RES course participants are required to pass the RES examination, comprising of two papers, within 2 years from the date of issuance of the RES course completion certificate. For candidates with a modular pass in one paper of the RES examination, they are required to pass the remaining paper within 2 years timeframe. Should they fail to do so, the modular pass in one paper will not be valid and candidates will have to re-take the RES course before attempting the RES examination (i.e.both paper 1 and paper 2) again.

With effect from January 2015; Paper 1 will be conducted on Saturday from 9:30am-12:00pm and Paper 2 will be conducted on Sunday from 9:30am-12:00pm. All candidates are reminded to arrive at least one hour before the commencement of examination.
Successful candidates must apply for registration with CEA within 24 months of the date of issuance of the examination certificate after which, results will be invalid for licensing and registration purposes.
Minor revisions were made to the RES examination syllabus in June 2016. RES examinations will be set based on the revised syllabus from 1 January 2017.
The scope of topics covered in the revised syllabus remains the same. We have regrouped some of the topics between Paper 1 and Paper 2 for better organisation of the topics, so that candidates are assessed on related topics in the same paper. Law related topics will now be covered in Paper 1 while topics relating to the regulation of the real estate agency industry and the roles and functions of real estate salespersons (also known as property agents) will be covered in Paper 2.

With effect from the July 2011 RES examination, modular passing will be allowed. The results for July 2011 RES examination onwards will be in one of the following formats:
The RES examination results are released 4 - 6 weeks after the examination is held. The process may be extended due to other relating factors such as the number of candidates taking the examination. A certificate will be issued to successful candidate. No replacement certificates will be re-printed for lost certificates, only a letter of confirmation of qualification attained will be issued upon formal request made. The exam fees paid do not cover the delivery of the certificate to the candidate.

#Registration and payment for each RES examination will close at 6pm, 1 month (4 weeks) before the first exam paper or when full capacity is reached, whichever is earlier. Please note that no prior notice will be given.
